Explore the Arts and Old Town North at the 2nd Annual Chalk-A-Block on Sunday, September 28th from 11am-3pm!

Early morning rain on our originally scheduled date (Sunday, September 7th) led to wet pavement that was not suitable for chalk art.  Fear not, Chalk-A-Block will be back, better than ever, on Sunday, September 28th!

Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 28, 2025 from 11am to 3pm for the 2nd Annual Chalk-A-Block! The streets of Old Town North will be brought to life with chalk artists, live music, and local artisans/makers showcasing their works.

Follow the Old Town North Tern’s chalk footprints from site to site throughout the neighborhood to complete the scavenger hunt and be entered to win prizes! The grand prize is a gift certificate to a.lounge+bar generously donated by Hotel AKA Alexandria (Pick up your scavenger hunt form at any location and turn it in at Salon deZEN at 533 Montgomery St.).

Chalk artists will transform the sidewalks and parking lots of Old Town North into their canvases.

Local artisans and makers will be on hand to showcase their works. From stationery to jewelry to crochet creations to baked goods and more, there will be something for everyone!

“Chalk-A-Block” will offer fun for all ages and will give you a chance to be an artist!  Chalk artists will designate areas at most locations where kids (or kids at heart!) can join in and make chalk art of their own.

One of our featured artists, Anita Angjeli, has already laid out the plans for her planned chalk piece, “Wings in Bloom,” which will include special opportunities for participation by visitors. Anita will be located in the AFBA parking lot at the corner of Montgomery St. and N. Saint Asaph St.
