If you aren’t familiar with the Old Town Festival of Speed and Style (OTFSS), you have been missing out on one of Alexandria’s biggest events of the year and one of the premier automotive events on the east coast. Last year’s festival drew 50,000 people to the streets of Old Town. OTFSS lines King Street with a dazzling array of over 120 rare and exotic supercars and motorcycles from around the world. From Ferraris to Lamborghinis, Porsches to Jaguars, and Austin-Healeys to Aston-Martins, the vehicle collection is sure to impress.

Even so, there is so much more to this event than the incredible collection of vehicles it showcases.

Original Artwork Created for Each Year of the OTFSS

Every year since the festival’s inception in 2019, artist Tom Kuester has created an original piece of hand-drawn art that becomes the poster used for event promotion. Visit the OTFSS instagram to see a post from March showcasing each of the poster designs from 2019 to the present (@festival_of_speed_and_style).

In late March, the OTFSS held a special event at Principle Gallery in Old Town to unveil this year’s original artwork. Kuester works with magic marker to create a vibrant visual that is well-suited to printing. Kuester’s designs not only highlight the classic vehicles, but also place the spotlight on Alexandria. This year, Kuester captures the beauty of a stylish red sports car against the backdrop of the iconic Alexandria waterfront including Chart House Restaurant and the Torpedo Factory. In 2024, Kuester featured the Burke & Herbert bank building on S. Fairfax Street.

OTFSS Fashion Show

Sunday, May 18th at noon

It’s no coincidence that the sports car in Kuester’s 2025 artwork is surrounded by elegantly dressed individuals. Fashion is another important aspect of the OTFSS. In addition to embracing and celebrating the design and style of the vehicles themselves, OTFSS stages a unique fashion show featuring outfits designed to complement the elegance and character of the vehicles.

The models for last year’s fashion show looked glamorous thanks to the help of Old Town North’s Salon deZEN, who did their hair and makeup. Salon deZEN will be doing the hair and make up for the fashion show again this year and also did beautiful hair and make-up for a pre-festival photo shoot at Canal Center.

Further adding to the celebratory atmosphere of the festival, attendees will enjoy live music from highly acclaimed jazz and rock bands.

The High Octane Ball

Saturday, May 17th from 7pm - 11pm

Land Rover Alexandria

Building on the festival’s fashion theme, Saturday night’s High Octane Ball has a Casino Royale theme. The Ball will take place at Land Rover Alexandria and will include hors d’oeuvres, dinner, and dessert along with fine wines and handcrafted cocktails. Enjoy a live painting performance by artist David Garibaldi, who will transform a blank canvas before your eyes; bid on items in the silent auction (including Garibaldi’s painting); and dance the night away!

Speed & Style for a Good Cause

The OTFSS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All proceeds from the OTFSS are donated to local charities selected by the festival’s organizers. This year’s event will benefit ALIVE! (addressing short to long term needs for those less fortunate), Community Lodgings (lifting families from homelessness and instability to independence and self-sufficiency), and the National Breast Center Foundation (removing barriers that prevent women from getting proper screening, diagnosis, and treatment for breast cancer).
