When Keith and Jula Coggins relocated to Alexandria, they fell in love with its impressive history, quaint vibe and picturesque appeal. But they realized something was lacking: a waterfront restaurant with a spectacular view. They started cafeteria-style in 2016, serving breakfast and lunch to the military personnel/trainees of their security business. The following year, they opened to the public as Cafe 44, and in 2023 expanded and re-christened the restaurant “Jula’s on the Potomac” after Jula Coggins’ great-grandmother Jula Jane, whose name she also carries.
This month, you can join OTNA member “Jula’s on the Potomac” for a duo of special champagne events to celebrate the holidays!
Thursday, December 21st brings a fabulous Champagne Dinner featuring four different champagnes from Veuve Clicquot. From 6:30 to 9:30 pm, savor a curated four-course dinner with foods chosen to pair with the champagne varieties. Cost is $175 per person (plus tax and gratuity).
Get your New Year’s Eve Party started early from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, December 31st. Enjoy a premium open bar and hors d’oeuvres while listening to tunes spun by DJ Mr. Potter. Luxuriate in a Veuve Clicquot champagne toast while you have a terrific spot to watch the City of Alexandria fireworks display at 6:00 pm. Cost is $125 per person (plus tax and gratuity).
In addition to these events, Jula’s will fill your charcuterie board for your holiday party, and is offering a special price on Veuve Clicquot champagne.

While you’re getting on your holiday shop, plan a visit to the Old Town North Farmers Market, where you can find unique gifts, including some for your pets! The Sunday Holiday Market will be open December 17 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, a special Tuesday Holiday Market will be open December 19 from 3:00 to 6:30 pm, and the regular Thursday market from 3:00 to 6:30 pm.
